Global data programme with Swiss participation

Christine Choirat has been selected as a member of the Scientific Committee of the World Data System (WDS), which is a body of the International Science Council (ISC) that associates over 140 national and regional science bodies as well as more than 40 international scientific unions.

The World Data System promotes the long-term stewardship of and equitable access to, quality-assured scientific data and data services, products and information across all disciplines. For this purpose, the WDS coordinates and supports trusted scientific data services for the provision, use and preservation of relevant datasets, while strengthening their links with the research community.

Christine Choirat is the Head of the Data Science section at Swiss Federal Statistical Office and Scientific Advisor at the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC). With research interests in health data science, high-performance computing and reproducible research, she notably is also the Swiss delegate in the Strategy Working Group on Data, Computing and Digital Research Infrastructures at the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI).

The Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) and the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHS) nominated Christine Choirat for the WDS Scientific Committee as members of the International Science Council and related to their focus on research culture, which includes Open Science.
