The 2021 MIC Symposium will be dedicated to three-dimensional electron microscopy (EM). In recent years, a broad range of EM applications in life sciences has seen major advances. New technologies and hardware solutions are driving tremendous developments, notably with respect to the elucidation of three-dimensional structures of macromolecular assemblies. Protein structure determination by single-particle cryo-EM is revolutionising structural biology. Cryo-electron tomography is offering unprecedented views into the macromolecular landscape of cells. Large volume reconstructions by scanning EM visualise tissue organisation in great detail. This year’s MIC Symposium programme will offer cutting-edge scientific talks in all these areas to provide a glimpse on the current and future opportunities that EM offers to life sciences.
