Logo of National Committee of the International Geographical Union
The “National Committee of the International Geographical Union” (NC IGU) represents Swiss interests in the field of geography and promotes its international governing body, the IGU, in Switzerland.
The National Committee consists of representatives from the “Association suisse de géographie“ (ASG), the Swiss association for geography, which is a member - and receiver of funds - of the Swiss Academy of Science (SCNAT).
As the coordination of the union lies within the responsibility of its various panels, the national committee is tasked predominantly with administrative duties, which also include participating in the biennial general assembly. NC IGU is also responsible to report relevant information from the Union and its resolutions back to ASG-members in Switzerland.

NC IGU is a working group within the Platform Geosciences.

Year founded: 1989
