IPCC: Call for participation in the Scoping Meeting for an IPCC Methodology Report on CDR technologies and CCUS

The IPCC is looking for experts to participate in the IPCC Scoping Meeting for an IPCC Methodology Report on the Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage. The Scoping Meeting is scheduled for the second half of October 2024.

The IPCC is looking for experts to participate in the IPCC Scoping Meeting for an IPCC Methodology Report on the Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage.

Date: The Scoping Meeting is scheduled for the second half of October 2024 (venue will be confirmed shortly)

Deadline for nomination: For timely nomination, experts should fill out the form until 15 July 2024 (see Download).

Scope of the meeting: This Scoping Meeting will make a recommendation on the Scope of the Methodology Report for consideration by the IPCC Panel in early 2025. Following the decision of governments, a Methodology Report shall be prepared through the course of four Lead Author Meetings with the final report to be considered for acceptance by the IPCC Panel by the end of 2027.

Expertise in demand: Relevant expertise in relation to the estimation of sinks or sources from the CDR technologies and CCUS is listed on the IPCC Website.

Selection: A Mix of criteria will be used for selection and an invitation would follow if the application is successful. A mixture of experts with and without previous experience in IPCC can be selected. More information on the preparation of IPCC reports, including the scoping process is available from the IPCC Principles and Procedures.

How to be nominated: If you are interested in participating in this meeting, please fill out the attached nomination form and send it together with a CV (pdf of 4 pages and 4MB maximum) back to Urs Neu () until 15 July 2024 the latest. Nominations will be reviewed and submitted by the Swiss IPCC Focal Point (FOEN) only.
