Cancer screening in the European Union

Improve existing screening programmes for breast, colorectal and cervical cancer, extend their application to lung and prostate cancer and make it easier for people to access such programmes: these are the recommendations of the EU Commission's Group of Chief Scientific Advisors.

This way, science is providing input to the development of the EU-funded cancer screening programme proposed as part of "Europe's Beating Cancer Plan". The Group’s recommendations are based on the findings of a report by the academies’ consortium SAPEA (Scientific Advice for Policy by European Academies) under the EU's Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM).
