Swiss Alliance for Global Research Partnerships (GRP-Alliance)

The Global Research Partnerships Alliance is a coalition of Swiss institutions strengthening collaborations with partners around the world to advance sciences for sustainable development.
The Global Research Partnerships Alliance is a coalition of leading Swiss institutions involved in research and teaching collaborations with partners around the world. Together we strengthen global collaboration to advance sciences for sustainable and equitable development.
In a globally connected and rapidly transforming world sciences foster innovative solutions for complex problems. Global collaborations in research and teaching enhance the quality and impact of sciences. Including complementing perspectives, values and competences aligns sciences with different global and regional priorities. Such inclusive collaborations level power imbalances and provide relevant knowledge for sustainable and equitable development.
The Global Research Partnerships Alliance is a coalition of more than 40 research and higher education institutions, development organizations and funding agencies in Switzerland. We are well connected with the relevant actors in Switzerland and around the world to implement our activities, explore topics related to global partnerships and learn with our partners. At the intersection of research and international cooperation, the Alliance is hosted by the Swiss Academy of Science (SCNAT) Science and Policy Platform (SAP).
The alliance was founded in 1994 under its original name Swiss Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries. In 2025 we changed our name to Swiss Alliance for Global Research Partnerships.
The Alliance is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT), the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the associated institutions.
