22nd Swiss Climate Summer School 2024
Climate Change: From the Dawn of the Anthropocene to Options for the Future
The network of leading Swiss institutions in climate research and education, invites young scientists to join high-profile climate researchers in a scenic Swiss Alpine setting for keynote lectures, workshops and poster sessions on the occasion of the 22nd Swiss Climate Summer School 2024.
The 22nd Swiss Climate Summer School is focusing on the theme “Climate Change: From the Dawn of the Anthropocene to Options for the Future”. This theme has been chosen due to its paramount importance in terms of both scientific challenges and pressing societal concerns. Always with a focus on understanding the system, mapping the options, and communicating action, the specific topics include:
- Current climate change: What is detected and attributed?
- Past climate change: How unusual is the present?
- The science-policy interface: Has it worked?
- Many futures ahead: What options remain?
This summer school addresses Early Stage Researchers from the climate, engineering, social and economic sciences, humanities and law. In addition to keynote lectures from internationally renowned experts and extensive time for discussions and poster sessions, two half days will be spent with workshops in smaller groups and hands-on practical work. An excursion will lead us to a scenic place with glaciers in the mountains. All Summer School participants are expected to present a poster of their research.
