The platform MAP incorporates societies and scientifique bodies dedicated to the areas of mathematics, astronomy and physics. It supports the organisations’ activities and coordinates and promotes research and education in the field of mathematics, astronomy and physics.
A valuable task for the platform is the constant information exchange between politics, technical authorities and the society. The platform’s research concerns the early detection of developmental changes in Switzerland. On an international level, the platform delivers an opinion on the basis of its scientific expertise. The creation of bridges between institutions of Swiss academia and the commercial enterprises, which either provide research and apprenticeship and/or exercise their findings are just as important as the support and the assistance in promoting young talents at a primary or secondary school level, which occur in coordination with other SCNAT platforms. Another important task is the maintenance of national and international bonds and the coordination with research supporting institutions, especially the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Commission for Technology and Innovation.

Year founded: 2007
