‘Mitigation’, in the context of climate change, is a human intervention to reduce the sources or enhance the sinks of greenhouse gases (GHGs). The Working Group III (WGIII) contribution to the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) assesses literature on the scientific, technological, environ- mental, economic and social aspects of mitigation of climate change.
