saguf starts the year with a new strategy and new Co-President!

saguf has adopted a new strategy for 2024-2028. This strategy will be presented on 11 March 2024, 17:30-18:30 at a special members’ meeting (online) and will guide our work over the next five years.

At its meeting on 20 December 2023, the Board of the Swiss Academic Society for Environmental Research and Ecology (saguf) unanimously elected Dr Claudia Zingerli as its new Co-President. Our warmest congratulations! With her extensive experience and many years of commitment to saguf, Claudia will play a key role in the implementation of our new strategy.

Our mission since 1972 has been to shape transformative research and teaching and to intensify inter- and transdisciplinary exchange. In the face of increasingly critical global social-ecological challenges, saguf is working more than ever to promote fundamental social change towards sustainability.

To this end, over the next five years we will focus on four strategic thrusts:

  1. Reflecting on and further developing methods in sustainability-oriented research and teaching;
  2. Promoting dialogue and collaboration between different generations of sustainability-oriented scientists;
  3. Building strong partnerships in the science system to strengthen the impact of sustainability-oriented research;
  4. Increasing the visibility of saguf in practice and intensify the links between science and practice.
