In April 2005 the European Sustainability Reporting Award was given to the Biosphere Reserve Grosses Walsertal for its Sustainability Report 2004. The Grosses Walsertal and Co-operative Financial Services, an English bank, were the two winners among the 31 participants all over Europe.
The aim of the contest is to highlight the most significant and innovative presentation of the environmental and sustainable management of a company. An interdisciplinary team, including auditors and environmental assessors, industrial and scientific representatives as well as journalists and advertising experts, evaluates the reports.
The jury assessed the sustainability report of the Grosses Walsertal as an encouraging example for other regions and organisations of how to report unconventionally about the environmental and sustainable activities of a public institution.
The Sustainability Report of the Grosses Walsertal is available in German, but there is also a short version in English.
