The Brissago Islands sustain the botanic garden of the Canton of Ticino since 1950.
In the garden, around 1700 plant species are cultivated. They originate in regions of Mediterranean climate (the Mediterranean Basin, Chile, South Africa, Southwest Australia and California) and of humid subtropical climate (in particular from Asia, but also from North and South America and Oceania).
