This symposium is part of the 24th Swiss Geoscience Meeting from 20 to 21 November 2026. We welcome contributions covering the full breadth of limnology and oceanography. The session is open to all research approaches—field observations, laboratory experiments, modelling, remote sensing, or innovative combinations of these. Studies at any spatial or temporal scale are encouraged, from targeted local investigations to long-term regional or global assessments, addressing physical, biogeochemical, or biological processes in aquatic systems. We are especially enthusiastic about contributions from MSc and PhD students, as well as early career researchers eager to share their ongoing work with a wider and supportive scientific community.

The Limnology/Oceanography session is expected to share its poster session with the Hydrology/Hydrogeology session to foster an integrated perspective of the water resource.

The SSHL offers two prizes (CHF 250.- each) for posters presented at the SGM. The awards focus on scientific innovation and communication/design.

Early Career researchers (PHD and Master students) can apply for the SSHL-SGHL Poster Award. Together with the decision on your abstract, we will send you an application form by e-mail.

Deadline for the Award application: 11 November 2026
