Call for Participants: 24th Swiss Climate Summer School 2026
Climate Variability across Space and Time
The network of leading Swiss institutions in climate research and education invites early stage scientists to join high-profile climate researchers in a scenic Swiss alpine setting for keynote lectures, workshops, poster sessions, and personal interactions on the occasion of the 24th Swiss Climate Summer School 2026.

The 24th Swiss Climate Summer School is focusing on the theme “Climate Variability across Space and Time”. This theme has been chosen due to its paramount importance in terms of both scien- tific challenges and pressing societal concerns. Always with a focus on understanding system processes from observational and model perspectives, understanding sources of uncertainty, and implications for predictability and predictions. The main questions to be addressed during the summer school 2026 are:
- How has climate variability varied across time from the past to the present?
- How does climate variability vary across space from boundary layer processes to planetary scales?
- What are the sources of uncertainty in seasonal to decadal predictability?
- What are the implications for weather and climate predictions?
This summer school addresses Early Career Researchers with a background in climate, engineering, environmental, economic, social and geosciences, among others. In addition to keynote lectures from internationally renowned experts and extensive time for discussions and poster sessions, two half days will be spent with workshops in smaller groups and hands-on practical work. An excursion will lead us to a scenic place with glaciers in the mountains. All Summer School participants are expected to present a poster of their research.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 15 JANUARY 2026
