Premi della SCNAT

Il premio per la ricerca polare e ad alta quota viene conferito ai giovani scienziati e scienziate per l’eccellenza dimostrata nel loro master, nel dottorato o in altri progetti scientifici. Il premio viene assegnato dalla Commissione svizzera di ricerca polare e di alta quota (SKPH), dalla Commissione per la stazione di ricerca d’alta quota dello Jungfraujoch (SKJF) e dalla Fondazione svizzera per le ricerche alpine.

Call for nominations: Prix de Quervain 2026 for Polar Research
The Prix de Quervain 2026 will be awarded for outstanding research conducted in, or originating from, the two polar regions, across all scientific disciplines. Eligible to participate are early career researchers who have completed their master's, doctoral or postdoctoral work after 15 March 2024 at a research institution in Switzerland. Submissions will be evaluated based on their scientific significance, originality, relevance to science and/or practice, and the overall quality of presentation. The evaluation process will take into account the different qualification levels and the academic age of the applicants.

When ice crystals cause snowfall and people with lung disease climb to higher altitudes
Two young scientists are awarded the Prix de Quervain for their outstanding dissertations re-lated to high altitude research. Paraskevi Georgakaki is being honoured for her research into the role of ice crystals in mixed-phase clouds, and Simon Raphael Schneider for his study on the effects of high altitude on people with pulmonary hypertension.

Le Prix Expo 2024 décerné au Muséum d’histoire naturelle de la Ville de Neuchâtel et au Musée d’histoire post-naturelle
Cette année, le jury a choisi comme lauréat l’ensemble formé par deux expositions ayant été présentées simultanément au Muséum d'histoire naturelle de la Ville de Neuchâtel (MHNN) : « Platéosaure, ceci est un dinosaure » - conçue et réalisée par ce dernier, et « Dinosaure domestique » - conçue et réalisée par le Musée d'histoire post-naturelle (MHPN).

Call for proposals: Prix de Quervain 2024 for polar research
The Prix de Quervain 2024 will be awarded for work on topics relating to the two polar regions. Eligible to participate are young researchers with a master's or doctoral degree from the last 24 months or their master's, dissertation or postdoctoral work at a research institution in Switzerland. The evaluation will assess the scientific significance, creativity/originality, implementation in science and practice, and presentation, taking into account the different levels and academic ages of the applicants.

Prix de Quervain 2023: 37,000 ice cliffs and their influence on glacier melt in the Himalayas
More than ever before – Marin Kneib has employed the latest satellite technology and camera systems to measure over 37,000 ice cliffs. The researcher will be awarded the Prix de Quervain 2023 by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences for an extremely comprehensive doctoral dissertation at the ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL.
